Other Slipstream Settings How to:

Once installed you will have an icon on your task bar next to the clock - it is round with teal colored with an orange stripe through it.

To change the settings for Slipstream such as proxy exclusion, picture quality, Username and Password, or starting and stopping Slipstream click on the icon. A menu box will appear with the different options available, which include:

Exit SlipStream – This is used to turn SlipStream on and off.

Statistics – This shows you how much data has been compressed and what the speed increase is.

For more details click on the Details button.

Settings – This is where you can change the settings of Slipstream, such a picture quality and Username/Password details. You can also update your Slipstream software from here when updates are available

The default picture quality is 30% of the original. To change this setting move the slid bar to the right. If you are using Internet Explorer and want to see the original image, right click on the image and select "show original image", from the menu that appears (this will show that image as it would look at 100% quality)

Once finished changing your settings click OK. You maybe told the new settings will take affect after you restart Slipstream. To do this click on the SlipStream icon on your task bar, select stop SlipStream and then select start SlipStream straight after.

In Netscape the proxy exclusion list does not work properly so you will have to manually add any sites you don’t want to use Slipstream for. To do this open Netscape, click Edit, select Properties, Advanced, and then proxies.

To remove Slipstream from your computer use the remove software wizard in the control panel. Double click My Computer, select Control Panel then the Install/Remove software icon. Choose SlipStream Accelerator and click next; this will take you through the uninstall of SlipStream Accelerator.

What is a proxy exclusion list?
A proxy exclusion list is Websites that you do not want to visit using SlipStream. Most people will not need to use this list, however, if you have a web server connected to the LAN you're on, or if you're running one on your own computer then you will need to add these sites to the exclusion list ie: *.localhost (for a web server on your computer) or *.192.168 (for a web server on your network) or *.arrowheadnet.com (for a domain). If you try and go to a site and the browser does not show anything then try adding that site (*.arrowheadnet.com) to the proxy exclusion list. Restart Slipstream and try getting to the site again. If this does not work turn Slipstream off and try again.
