Setup Dial-Up Networking
1.Double click
on the My Computer icon.
2.Double click
on the Dial-Up Networking icon.
3.Now double
click on the Make New Connection icon.
4.Under "Type
a name for the computer you are dialing" field, type
ARROWHEADNET.COM.
5.Click the
Configure button.
6.Check that
the appropriate speed for your modem is highlighted (for
14.4 modems use 19200, for 28.8 and 33.6 modems use 38400 and
for 56K modems use 57600.)
7.Make sure
that the Only connect at this speed option is not
checked.
8.Click the
OK button.
9.Click the
Next button.
10.In the Area code
and Telephone number text boxes, type your local
access number. Remember to check with your local telephone
company to make sure that the number you choose is a local toll-free
call.
11.Click the Next
button.
12.Click the Finish
button.
13.Click on the icon
in Dialup Networking with the right mouse button.
14.Choose Properties.
You may also left click once on the icon and go
to the File menu and select Properties.
15.Click on Server
Types tab (on some older versions of Windows this
will be a button located to the right of the Configure button)
16.For Type of Dial-Up
Server, select the first item on the list.
17.Make sure that
the TCP/IP, and Enable software compression
boxes are the only ones selected.
18.with check marks
are Click the TCP/IP Settings button.
19.Select the Server
assigned IP address button.
20.Select the Specify
name server addresses button.
21.In the Primary
DNS text box, type 216.98.128.70
22.In the Secondary
DNS text box, type 216.98.138.70Make sure that
there is a check beside both Use IP header compression and Use
default gateway on remote network.
23.Click the OK button
about 3 times to get back to the Dial-up
Networking window.
24.Drag the ARROWHEADNET.COM
connection icon to your desktop.
25.When you see a
message saying You cannot move or copy this
item to this location. Do you want to create a shortcut to the
item instead?, click the Yes button.
Your computer is now configured
to connect to the Internet.
